They also discuss the Anthropic settlement, foreign rights, and what to look out for in big presses vs. indie/smaller presses.

Michael Gross completed his undergraduate education at Syracuse University where he graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Management, majoring in Law and Public Policy. He then went on to complete his legal education at New York Law School, where he graduated in June of 1999. Mr. Gross has been with the Authors Guild Inc. ever since, where he now serves as Director of Legal Services. He regularly advises members on a wide range of legal issues, including contractual issues, First Amendment issues, copyright matters, trademark issues, immigration issues, and tax issues. 

Kyle Maxey is currently a Staff Attorney at the Authors Guild. Having started at the Authors Guild as a Legal Fellow in September 2022, Kyle has provided extensive counsel to authors in a number of different areas, including copyright law, First Amendment law, and contract law. Kyle has also interceded in a number of disputes on behalf of authors, and has extensive experience in managing multi-party claims. Kyle graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University with a degree in Political Science & History in 2018, and with an MBA in 2019, as well as from George Mason Law School in May 2022. Kyle is admitted to the Maryland State Bar.
