Wisconsin Sisters in Crime (WISinC) is a long-standing statewide chapter of Sisters in Crime. Because we are scattered across the state and it’s difficult to meet in a central location, our emphasis is on networking via our online Groups.io email group and holding virtual meetings. Nearly every month, we hold an educational virtual meeting where we cover everything from craft to marketing to anything a crime author might need to be successful. We also maintain a Programming Library, so members can revisit our nearly 30 hours of programming at their leisure. Every week, we host three weekly virtual write-ins where writers meet to write and socialize. This provides a great way for members to meet and get to know each other in a slightly more intimate setting.
Weekly Write-ins:
Monday: 1pm-3pm CST
Wednesday: 9:30am-Noon CST
Thursday: 6:00-7:00pm CST
In addition to our virtual meetings, we also encourage more informal get-togethers between WISinC members who live near each other, as well as meeting each other at conferences and classes.
Membership to WISinC is free if you’re a member of Sisters in Crime Worldwide. Instead of monetary “dues,” we ask each member to post at least once each month on our closed Groups.io email group. Posts can include updates on our current projects, sharing interesting links, announcing an author appearance, asking a question about writing or publishing, responding to someone else’s post, or sharing favorite passages. You can even post about cats, offspring, and hobbies, since that helps us get to know people who would otherwise be faceless email addresses.
