As we celebrate our 40th Anniversary it is good to look back on how far SinC has come as, from its beginnings as a chat at Bouchercon, it has grown to something far wider than could ever be imagined. SinC has always been inclusive in so many ways, and this is something I love about the organisation. That inclusivity means, despite its start in the USA, it has always welcomed writers wherever they may reside in the world.
I am proud to be part of driving international growth, especially since I am from, and live, in Scotland. I feel passionately about SinC and take every opportunity to spread the word. As well as running information tables at the major crime festivals in the USA, SinC now also has them at both the Scottish Association of Writers Conference and London Book Fair. Of course, I take the lead on those. SinC now counts members from 20 different countries amongst their numbers, across every continent, excluding Antarctica. Now, there’s a challenge! As I serve on the SinC Board, I look forward to seeing where I, and the organisation, can take SinC next. I believe every country in the world should have SinC members as we strive to help and support as many writers as we possibly can. Let’s see what the next 40 years brings.
