Emails and letters have been arriving for authors to look at their Anthropic Copyright Settlement Claims, and to dispute any claims.

On Thursday, ED Julie Hennrikus sent an email to SinC members. We’ve decided to post parts of that email with some updated information.

Many authors are getting emails (or letters) about their Anthropic Copyright Settlement Claim Notice. If you do, login with the Claim Number and PIN they sent you. Look at the list of books, and expand the view so that you can see what the distribution is. If you haven’t seen an email, make sure to check your SPAM folder.

If you are traditionally published, there should be a 50/50 split with your publisher. If your publisher is listed at more than 50%, change the amount. Here are the instructions on how to do that.

If your rights were reverted but a publisher put in a claim, upload your reversion documentation and change the amount to 100% for you.

Some authors are seeing 100% to their publisher, and that’s not the agreement. This may be a database error, or an error in batch uploading by publishers. Whatever the cause, make sure you check your claim.
